The Irishman and Joker look set to battle it out for the Editing category at the 2020 Academy Awards, writes Adrian Pennington.
The odds are probably short on legendary editor Thelma Schoonmaker landing her fourth Oscar for Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman – a film which barely sags in its three-hour run time. Her nearest challenger is most likely Joker, the must-see film of the year which controversially explained the iconic Batman villain’s violence as a mental illness.
