Global technology leader Google will be taking to the Showcase Theatre stage for two sessions during IBC2022, one taking a deep dive into the hot topic of cloud technology and its influence on the future of media and entertainment. The second will focus on the importance of diversity in leadership M&E, and in particular, direct-to-consumer.
New for IBC2022, the accessible to all Showcase Theatre will be welcoming thought leaders throughout the show, discussing issues including live event management innovations, data-driven advertising and AI-powered creativity.
The first Google session, taking place at 13:15-14:00 on Friday 9 September, will feature Anil Jain, Managing Director of Media & Entertainment, Google Cloud, sharing how cloud is digitally transforming the media industry. He will be joined by customers engaging in long-term transformational partnerships with Google Cloud.
As media companies are recognising that they must evolve to optimise acquisition, retention and engagement of global direct-to-consumer audiences, Jain will share how Google Cloud is uniquely invested and positioned to empower media and entertainment providers with the products and solutions they need to not only undergo, but thrive, in the direct-to-consumer transformation.
Jain is a leader within the Global Industry Solutions team at Google Cloud, focusing on helping customers and partners in media and entertainment achieve success leveraging Google’s cloud services. Prior to Google Cloud, he worked at numerous media and entertainment companies including Brightcove, where he was a member of the senior leadership team.
On Sunday, Faz Aftab, Director, Media & Entertainment Partnerships, Google, will lead a session entitled Women Leading the Direct-to-Consumer Revolution. This will take place between 16:15 and 17:15, also in the Showcase Theatre.
Attendees will hear how the direct to consumer landscape is being shaped by women leaders, their thoughts on how we can better empower more diverse leadership in media and entertainment, and the actions needed to make the industry more inclusive and equitable for all.
Aftab joined Google in September 2021 to lead media and entertainment partnerships for Google platforms and ecosystems across EMEA and APAC. This includes scaling the new Google TV platform internationally. From 2011-2021, she was at ITV where she was the Director of Strategic Partnerships and Distribution. She was also the Chair of Freesat, during which time she led the merger of Freesat (a BBC/ITV joint venture) with DUK (a BBC/ITV/C4/C5 joint venture).
The Showcase Theatre is situated in Hall 12 (12.F102) and will be hosting free to attend sessions throughout IBC2022. Other companies taking part include AWS, Accenture, Piano.io and Zixi. You can view a full schedule of events here.
